The Project "Persocom"

"Persocom" is the working titel from this freeware project. It describes perfectly what this Project should be.

The term Persocom comes from the Anime Chobits and describe a computer in human form, which are not or hardly be differentiate from Humans, but they only are machines oder humanoid robots. They serve the people and provide help and support them, depending on the tasks for which they are programmed.

The goal of the project is to virtually create such a Perscom and make it useful and irreplaceable for the user. The Project is created for a small second Monitor with TouchScreen functions, but the character is also as a normal desktop character available, but the full functions have only the full screen version, because on an extra Monitor you have more opportunities. Also it is possible to use the Persocom character in full screen on a windows server machine at one monitor.

The Persocom will be customizable like in online Roleplaying Games, so that every User can have his one personally Persocom. You can choose the sex, the face, the hears incl. color, eyes incl. color, mouth forms and also the clothes. All will be choosed at the first program start and saved online, later the user can only switch the clothes. That is important, because every user should have a relationship to his Persocom Character, that is impossible, when the user can change permanently his character and so every time have a complete new Persocom. Thats not good for a relationship.

Some planned Features:

Online functions are an importend element, while the Persocoms should are in some instance crosslinked with each other. There will be a friendlist with own messenger and mail functions.
Monitoring of Windows in order to respond to certain events, e.g. that the Persocom recognizes, when his user looks a video, so that the character not disturb him. That the Persocom makes itself noticeable, when new messages (own messenger/mail or normal e-mails) arrived. That he make something at specific events (that can be much).
Some very simple artificial intelligence, to make the character more like a in individual and to looks more lively.
Generally useful function like an analog clock, calendar, personal organizer (wich can organized online), functions for fast e-mail sendings etc.
Speech output for much events like greetings i.a. depending on the time of the day, message ingoing and others.
Show the weather through a window at the virtual room of the Persocom (use online weather data) / Illumination depending on time of day (only in full screen).
Extensive configuration options for the user.
Extra switches on the TouchScreen for special functions.
Interacting over TouchScreen with the virtual character.
Place the Persocom on the LCD from the Logitech G19 keyboard.
Installing on harddrive or for faster use on other PCs on USB stick with autostart feature.

And surely much more. Sometime in the future it is also planned to install a speech recognition and to use the webcam to recognize the user (i.a. to recognize his mood, which is already possible), but such features lies far in the future, but are possible.
